Thursday, January28, 2010 to Thursday, February 4, 2010, Inclusive

We're "bonkers" for a challenge in P.E. Class and we'll be adding up half-court basket shooting scores for friendly competition while supporting teamwork skills with this half-court challenge! Our younger students will practice and reinforce previously taught locomotor skills in a fun activity, as well as participating in a character-building game! We will finish up our testing for upper body strength (K-6) and provide re-testing as needed. Next test is the "Air Chair" for grades 1-6. We will provide adaptations and flexible lessons for P.E. Classes on the 28th (P.M.), due to the H1N1 Vaccine in the gym. Wednesday, January 20, 2010 to Wednesday, January 27, 2010, Inclusive

Hi Good Sports! Can you believe we've finished up with our second marking period? As they say, "time flies when you're having fun! I'll soon be announcing our "10 Point" Contest Winners for best cooperative efforts for the second marking period and as always, those classes will receive their reward in the near future. "Congratulations to all students who always do their best in P.E. Class and everywhere! We will continue our testing for upper body strength- I have seen improvements and many students have reported they've been practicing to maintain and improve their fitness levels. I'm very proud of you! For our youngest students-please continue to practice tying your shoelaces-I'm very happy to have some good helpers in each class. We work on many physical skills in P.E. Class during our skill stations practice time and we will add some ball handling/dribbling activity to this practice time, as well. Get ready for some fun challenges in gym class during this cycle. We will practice being good team players while cooperating and encouraging each other. Remember, best efforts always "shape-up" your good health& fitness and fun AND "Good Sports are Winners in my book! Hi Students! Happy New Year! Please be sure to wear your sneakers and smiles and get ready for " Kid's Choice" Activities in gym class during this cycle. We will choose our favorite P.E. activities by exercising the voting process and of course, all Good Sports will be happy with their choices. We will continue our physical fitness testing for upper body strength (K-2 will perform the " Seal Crawl", while grades 3-6 will perform the " Isometric Push-up.") I'll look for you in Walking Clubs and for everyone to shape-up together on Fitness Friday! Let's always choose to do our best and have lots of fun! See you soon in P.E. Class!

Dear Students, Please wear your sneakers and get ready for some Wintertime favorites, Holiday games and flexible activities in P.E. Class during this cycle. We'll begin/continue our physical fitness tests for upper body strength. Please practice, be strong and be ready for this next test. I'll look for your participation in our Walking Clubs and a good work-out together before the Holiday begins. Please exercise over the Holiday Vacation with friends and family. I'm always happy when you go for healthy goals! I wish you and your family a very Healthy and Happy New Year, 2010!!!

Friday, December 11th to Friday, December 18th, 2009

We will begin our fitness tests for upper body strength for some classes as we are able during this 6-day cycle. Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grade will perform the "Seal Crawl" while 3rd through 6th grade will perform the "Isometric Push-up." Practice your regular push-ups to help you get ready. Adaptations can be made as needed. We will have flexible gym classes as needed for gym usage and any special events. Please wear your sneakers and get ready for some Wintertime favorites and Holiday-related activities activities in P.E. Class! Many skills will be covered during this time. We'll be Rockin' with Rudolph and working out to the tune, " The Twelve Days of Gym Class," for some great fitness fun! I'll look for your super participation in Walking Clubs and Fitness Friday! We won't be " stuck in any ruts" this Winter- all our Good Sports will team-up with best exercise efforts to reach healthy goals and stay in good shape! See you soon in gym class!

Tuesday December 1st to Wednesday, December 9, 2009

We will do our best to finish up our "Standing Broad Jump" test for leg strength and some classes may possibly begin our next test for upper body strength. We will have flexible gym classes as needed for activities being held in the gym;i.e., H1N1 Vaccine, Music rehearsals and PTO Fundraiser Pick-up. Our main objective is to always promote physical fitness in P.E. class and continue to promote Walking Clubs and Fitness Friday-I am always happy when you participate and join in! During this cycle, we will go to some classrooms with flexible activities such as,exercise CD's,videos,worksheets and classroom games as needed and when in the gym, we will practice positive interactions, practice good throwing form with accuracy, blocking and team cooperation skills, as well as practice many other skills while doing our best and having fun! We're shaping up in gym class! Keep up the great work, everyone! P.S. Go Spartan Football Team!!!

Wednesday November 18 to November 25,2009 (Day 1 to 6 Inclusive)

We will continue our jumping tests for leg strength. We will finish up our November Circuit Training Challenge. Our Gym Turkey looks great displaying our "Class" feathers representing our best exercise efforts. We will participate in a variety of fun activities with a Thanksgiving theme: some tag games, most classes learning to set the Thanksgiving table using sports/gym equipment using a fun relay in this learning process and our youngest students will "Dance with the Stars" while they perform a simple Tango-style Dance! Please everyone do your best on Fitness Friday and I'll also look for your participation in Walking Clubs through-out the week. Remember to exercise over the Thanksgiving Break.
