11/16/10 to 11/30/10, Inclusive

We will continue and in some classes complete our "Standing Broad Jump" test for leg strength. Some classes will be participating or will have participated in a variety of Thanksgiving theme-related activities: some tag games; as able, many classes having learned to set the Thanksgiving table while using sports/gym equipment in a fun relay for this learning experience and of course, our youngest students were "Dancing with the Stars" while performing a simple Turkey Tango-style dance! We will finish-up our November Circuit Training Challenge as of the 30th. Our Gym Turkey has been looking terrific displaying "Class" feathers representing best exercise efforts. All students who participated the required amount of gym classes received or will receive a certificate for their great participation. I'm glad for everyone's efforts during our Fitness Friday Activity and I hope everyone has enjoyed the Thanksgiving break and did remember to exercise. I am always thankful for "Good Sports!" 11/3/10 to 11/12/10, Inclusive

During the Month of November, our P.E. students will be building our Gym Turkey with "Class Feathers" representing great efforts by all students in a Circuit Training Challenge. We will continue our jumping test, practice and enjoy some locomotor fun and rhythms, relay action with great teamwork and games of cooperation. We will be practicing a variety of scooter skills and applying these skills in some fun scooter games and activities. We'll even try the Scooter Limbo! We like to always promote physical fitness with variety! As always, adaptations are made as needed for every activity. Our 10 point contest winners will be announced and rewards given in P.E. Class. 10/22/10 to 11/2/10, Inclusive

Our next fitness test will be the "Standing Broad Jump" ( an indicator of leg strength for all grade levels). Get ready for Kid's Choice Activities for the next 2 cycles. All good sports will exercise the voting process for their favorite choices . All students are getting ht.and wt. measurements by our Nursing Dept. during these cycles and some are having an Energy Program in the gym. We will continue to rattle our "Mr. Bones" ( Skeletal System Activity) and I'm hoping we'll exercise our "funny bone" with a good joke or riddle! Let's have fun with me during our Fitness Friday Activity and always do your personal best in P.E. Class and everywhere . We're proud of all of our N.S. Good Sports!!

10/18/10 to 10/21/10, Inclusive

It's time for our Obstacle Course in P.E. Class. I invited all Good Sports to take my fitness challenge this cycle and avoid the "spiders" hanging around the gym! We enjoyed good music to dance to while waiting for our turn and which also kept us motivated to get through the course. We'll continue our "Mr. Bones" activity for fun while reinforcing learning of the skeletal system.. We'll also remember our Firefighters who help keep us safe. All students received a certificate for doing their best and escaping from the spiders in our fun obstacle course! See you soon in P.E. Class, Good Sports! 10/8/10 to 10/15/10, Inclusive

We're "on a roll" in P.E. Class with some great Cageball fun promoting team efforts and cooperation , throwing skills and demonstrating our ability to follow game rules and safety rules. Our youngest students did a "spiders" movement activity with music CD incorporating the crab walk when they were to "travel" along a special pathway. As always, adaptations are in place as needed for everyone. Some classes were able to participate in a game incorporating a "buddy" system promoting collaborative efforts and helpfulness. We will rattle "Mr Bones", a fun activity which helps us to learn about our skeletal system and reinforce that knowledge. Everyone, please exercise with me on Fitness Friday! Hi Good Sports! We will soon finish up our "dash" and "shuttle run" physical fitness tests. I've seen many improvements as we do our re-tests , if needed. During this cycle , we have enjoyed positive interactions and lots of fun with our parachute activities. We have been continuing our running test. Kindergarten is doing the "Dash" and First through Sixth Grade is doing the "Shuttle Run." Our Good Sports are doing their best and we certainly have some fast runners! We've been sharpening our throwing skills by practicing with a football and practicing other physical skills at various skills stations and also have been sharing lots of fun and great exercise with some great Flag Tag games and other tag activities. Always remember to work-out at home and also participate with me in our Fitness Friday fun! See you soon in P.E. Class!

H i Good Sports! Welcome back! Our beginning P.E. Classes went very well so far and our Spartan Football Team did very well for their first game, too! Go Team! Fitness and fun is always our theme in gym class. Our first fitness test is a running test with adaptations as needed. Please remember to always wear your sneakers and bring along those great smiles, too! I look forward to sharing a variety of great activities and lots of fun through-out this school year! Hi Good Sports! We will continue our discussion of our "Principal's Muscles" with a fun spin while learning the major muscle groups and how to exercise these muscles to stay in shape. We will complete all of our testing. Good Sports are always a big hit who do their best in P.E. Class and we'll be covering our bases with some extra base-game fun! As always, we will practice a variety of physical skills, as well as learning about real-life, teamwork and positive interactions! Our Walking Club continues with our Winners receiving a stepometer/pedometer to count their steps. Get ready for a work-out on Fitness Friday! I'm always glad to hear about everyone participating! We will introduce and begin our discussion of our "Principal's Muscles," with our very own Principals allowing us to put some fun into our learning of the major muscle groups! We will continue/re-test/complete our sit-up testing. It's time to "play ball" in gym class! All "Good Sports" who do their best are always a "big hit" in P.E. Class! We may even add a rhythmical activity for our youngest students. At our practice stations, we will be working with some fun equipment, emphasizing many physical skills, such as throwing, catching, tracking, golf putting and locomotor skills. Our Walking Club Winners have begun to receive a stepometer/pedometer device to count their walking steps in lieu of the traditional pencil prize. Stay tuned for our Fitness Friday Activity! Monday, April 26, 2010 to Monday, May 3, 2010 Inclusive

We will repeat our activities from the previous cycle due to the Science Fair being held in the gym (By the way, our 6th Graders did a great job with their projects!). In the meantime, some of our classes were able to go to the H.S. Track to try it out! Third through sixth grade students: stay tuned for more floor hockey fun and our youngest students will work together and continue their fun, cooperative game. Some first grade classes will be going on their Field Trip this week. All other classes will continue will continue their sit-up testing with modifications as needed. As always, while I do testing, the rest of the students are able to go to various skill stations for individual practice, while our Leader Squad assists. Some examples: jumping rope, hula hooping, basket shooting, golf putting, roller racersand locomotor skills, etc... I'll look for your participation in Walking Clubs and our Fitness Friday Activity. We will continue our sit-up testing in P.E. class providing modifications as needed. During this cycle, 3rd through 6th grade will "stick around" for some floor hockey fun while our youngest students will leap into action with a great cooperative game. All students will be learning about teamwork and how we all need to work together for positive results. Please join me for Walking Clubs. Recently, we walked on the new track at High School. Hi P.E. Students! I hope you've been practicing for your "sit-up" test which begins during this cycle. I will provide modifications to this test when needed. Hi Good Sports! All fitness testing for the 3rd marking period will be completed this week. Please practice for your upcoming sit-up test. Modifications will be made as needed. We'll be "setting up" for some more fun Volleyball/Beachball Volleyball games and Holiday theme-related activities. So let's all "hop to it" and put some "spring" into our step and actions while we work-out together. I'll look for your participation in our Walking Clubs and the next Fitness Friday. We have been completing our physical fitness testing and re-testing for the 3rd marking period. At the beginning of the 4th marking period, we will begin "sit-ups," which will determine our abdominal strength and endurance. Practice some sit-ups at home on a safe, comfortable surface so you are ready for your test. Students in 1st through 6th grade are timed for a minute and Kindergarten for half a minute. Modifications to this test will be made as needed. During this cycle, we will be "setting up" for some Volleyball and other fun net games. As always, we will learn about "real-life" skills in P.E. class as well as many physical skills. Let's always go for healthy goals and exercise everyday and participate with me in Walking Clubs and Fitness Friday. I'll always check in with you to see how you've been working out! Hi everyone! All fitness testing for the 3rd marking period will be completed as soon as possible. We're continually working on many physical skills, as well as practicing positive interactions, learning about real-life skills(responsibility, leadership, cooperation, Good Sportsmanship, etc...), and always having great fun while setting healthy goals. We're always going for the "Gold" in gym class and that means doing our very best when working on our personal levels of physical fitness. All modifications are made on the spot as needed. Your lifelong homework assignment is to practice exercising everyday and staying motivated so to earn your healthy rewards. Coordinate your efforts with family and friends! It's "Reel Jig" time in P.E. Class this week and we'll be having some fitness fun with some Irish Folk Dancing and theme-related tag games and activities. Relays and tag games are in to be fit and trim and that's no "blarney!" It's FITNESS 4-EVER in P.E. Class, Walking Clubs, Fitness Friday and everywhere! "Good Luck," Good Sports, as you reach for your healthy goals! I'm very proud of you!!!

Hi Good Sports! We will continue and for some classes, finish up/re-test for leg strength, ("Air Chair"), grades 1-6 and re-tests for upper body strength for Kindergarten classes. During this cycle, we'll be on the go with " TAE-BO" Jr., for a great work-out! Each student will be exercising for good health, good hearts and strong bodies-what great goals! Our Olympic Champions took the challenge and did a great job as we do our best to do the same in P.E. Class, working on our individuals goals as able and as always, providing adaptations. We've been doing some theme-related work in our book exchange classes,i.e.,The Olympics, Dr. Seuss, special Holidays and seasons. I'll catch up with you for Walking Clubs and Fitness Friday for extra fitness activity. See you soon in gym class-get ready for the challenge! P.S. Way to read, students and parents! All re-tests for upper body strength will be finished. We will continue our testing for leg strength(1-6). Our Super Good Sports always win when they do their best and go for good goals. Our Olympic Team is always working and striving to do their best and we should be proud of their great efforts no matter what the outcome is. I'm proud of you when you do your best! It's all about teamwork in P.E. Class! We will practice the necessary skills for our activities this cycle. Our K-2 students will enjoy a game of Bowling Basketball and our 3rd-6th grade students will play regular Basketball(Referees and all). Join our exercise team and participate with me in Walking Clubs and Fitness Friday and keep going for those healthy goals! I wish you happy, healthy hearts! See you in gym class!

We're "bonkers" for a challenge in P.E. Class and we'll be adding up half-court basket shooting scores for friendly competition while supporting teamwork skills with this half-court challenge! Our younger students will practice and reinforce previously taught locomotor skills in a fun activity, as well as participating in a character-building game! We will finish up our testing for upper body strength (K-6) and provide re-testing as needed. Next test is the "Air Chair" for grades 1-6. We will provide adaptations and flexible lessons for P.E. Classes on the 28th (P.M.), due to the H1N1 Vaccine in the gym. Hi Good Sports! Can you believe we've finished up with our second marking period? As they say, "time flies when you're having fun! I'll soon be announcing our "10 Point" Contest Winners for best cooperative efforts for the second marking period and as always, those classes will receive their reward in the near future. "Congratulations to all students who always do their best in P.E. Class and everywhere! We will continue our testing for upper body strength- I have seen improvements and many students have reported they've been practicing to maintain and improve their fitness levels. I'm very proud of you! For our youngest students-please continue to practice tying your shoelaces-I'm very happy to have some good helpers in each class. We work on many physical skills in P.E. Class during our skill stations practice time and we will add some ball handling/dribbling activity to this practice time, as well. Get ready for some fun challenges in gym class during this cycle. We will practice being good team players while cooperating and encouraging each other. Remember, best efforts always "shape-up" your good health& fitness and fun AND "Good Sports are Winners in my book! Hi Students! Happy New Year! Please be sure to wear your sneakers and smiles and get ready for " Kid's Choice" Activities in gym class during this cycle.
