Dear Students, Please wear your sneakers and get ready for some Wintertime favorites, Holiday games and flexible activities in P.E. Class during this cycle. We'll begin/continue our physical fitness tests for upper body strength. Please practice, be strong and be ready for this next test. I'll look for your participation in our Walking Clubs and a good work-out together before the Holiday begins. Please exercise over the Holiday Vacation with friends and family. I'm always happy when you go for healthy goals! I wish you and your family a very Healthy and Happy New Year, 2010!!!

Friday, December 11th to Friday, December 18th, 2009

We will begin our fitness tests for upper body strength for some classes as we are able during this 6-day cycle. Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grade will perform the "Seal Crawl" while 3rd through 6th grade will perform the "Isometric Push-up." Practice your regular push-ups to help you get ready. Adaptations can be made as needed. We will have flexible gym classes as needed for gym usage and any special events. Please wear your sneakers and get ready for some Wintertime favorites and Holiday-related activities activities in P.E. Class! Many skills will be covered during this time. We'll be Rockin' with Rudolph and working out to the tune, " The Twelve Days of Gym Class," for some great fitness fun! I'll look for your super participation in Walking Clubs and Fitness Friday! We won't be " stuck in any ruts" this Winter- all our Good Sports will team-up with best exercise efforts to reach healthy goals and stay in good shape! See you soon in gym class!

Tuesday December 1st to Wednesday, December 9, 2009

We will do our best to finish up our "Standing Broad Jump" test for leg strength and some classes may possibly begin our next test for upper body strength. We will have flexible gym classes as needed for activities being held in the gym;i.e., H1N1 Vaccine, Music rehearsals and PTO Fundraiser Pick-up. Our main objective is to always promote physical fitness in P.E. class and continue to promote Walking Clubs and Fitness Friday-I am always happy when you participate and join in! During this cycle, we will go to some classrooms with flexible activities such as,exercise CD's,videos,worksheets and classroom games as needed and when in the gym, we will practice positive interactions, practice good throwing form with accuracy, blocking and team cooperation skills, as well as practice many other skills while doing our best and having fun! We're shaping up in gym class! Keep up the great work, everyone! P.S. Go Spartan Football Team!!!

Wednesday November 18 to November 25,2009 (Day 1 to 6 Inclusive)

We will continue our jumping tests for leg strength. We will finish up our November Circuit Training Challenge. Our Gym Turkey looks great displaying our "Class" feathers representing our best exercise efforts. We will participate in a variety of fun activities with a Thanksgiving theme: some tag games, most classes learning to set the Thanksgiving table using sports/gym equipment using a fun relay in this learning process and our youngest students will "Dance with the Stars" while they perform a simple Tango-style Dance! Please everyone do your best on Fitness Friday and I'll also look for your participation in Walking Clubs through-out the week. Remember to exercise over the Thanksgiving Break. "Happy Thanksgiving," everyone! I am thankful for "Good Sports." See you soon in P.E. Class! P.S. Go Spartan Football Team!

Our jumping test for leg strength will continue. Treats will be given to classes winning our "10 pt." contest. We willcontinue our Gym Turkey with "Class Feathers" showing best efforts during our November Circuit Training Challenge. Remember to focus on practicing your exercises daily to stay in shape. We will be "on a roll " with some Cageball Fun in gym class. I'll look for you in our Walking Clubs and Fitness Friday Activities. Great job, North Schuylkill Football Team! We will begin to build our Gym Turkey with "Class Feathers" representing great efforts by all students during our circuit training challenge for the month of November. We will also begin our jumping test for leg strength and we will enjoy some locomotor fun and rhythms, some relay action with great teamwork and games of cooperation. We like to promote physical fitness with variety! I'll be looking for you to participate in our Walking Clubs and Fitness Friday(when I'll announce our "10 point" winners, who will be receiving their rewards in their next P.E. class. Go Good Sports! Hi Good Sports! Please wear your sneakers and tie your shoelaces very well because I'm inviting you to take my fitness challenge in this week's activities in P.E. Class. Will you be able to escape from and avoid the "spiders" hanging around in the gym? It's time for our Obstacle Course, including some good music to help keep us motivated and allow us to dance a little while waiting for our turn.( We may even include a "polka" in honor of our Anthracite Heritage). We will continue our "Mr. Bones" activity to reinforce knowledge of the skeletal system, as well. Are you ready for this fun fitness challenge? I will provide any adaptations as needed for our classes this coming week. Also, remember to thank our Firefighters for all they do to help us and keep us safe. We will be wrapping up our "10 Point" Class Contest for best cooperative efforts for the first marking period. Class Winners will be announced in the near future, as well as your reward!I'll look for you to participate in Walking Clubs and for everyone to get into the action on Fitness Friday! See you soon! We've been finishing up our running tests and doing any re-tests. Our next fitness test will be the standing broad/long jump (an indicator of leg strength) for all grade levels. Please wear your sneakers and get ready for "Kid's Choice" Activities. All Good Sports will exercise the voting process to choose a favorite activity and all will be happy with their choices. We will begin to rattle "Mr. Bones," a fun activity which helps us learn about our skeletal system and the reinforcement of that knowledge. If you are in the Leader Squad for our next P.E. Class, please bring in a good joke or riddle so we can also exercise our "funny bone!" I look forward to seeing you in our Walking Clubs and let's have fun and everyone exercise with me during our Fitness Friday activity! I"m proud of you when you do your personal best. Great job! Hi Good Sports! Our first Physical Fitness Test is moving along. Kindergarten has been doing the "Dash" and First through Sixth Grade has been doing the "Shuttle Run." We have some fast runners in our gym classes! We hope to finish-up and do any re-tests within the next week or so. "Go Team, Fitness is the theme all year in P.E. Class!" We've participated in a variety of fun tag games parachute activities and lately we've been "kickin' it up" for soccer fun and skills practice and great games with friendly competition! We support and promote positive interactions, practice many physical skills and real-life skills, as well. I'm very happy when you participate with me in our Walking Clubs and Fitness Friday Activity. Way to go for good goals, everyone! P.S. Go Phillies!

"Way to go" to those students who participated in the Hershey Track and Field Event recently held at the H.S. stadium-heard great things about you! We'll complete our 4th Marking Pd. with some more Volleyball action and some "Kid's Choice" activities for end of the year fun and finish our discussion of the "Principal's Muscles." Let's have some extra fun together while we finish up with a request or two for our Fitness Friday Activity! I'd like to send lots of "Best Wishes" to our 6th Graders for great success in the future! All sit-up testing will be completed. We will continue our discussion of "The Principal's Muscles," while we have some fun learning the major muscle groups and how to exercise those muscles for a total body work-out. We will be "setting up" for some Volleyball and other net fun this week in gym class. Let's all go for healthy goals and participate in Walking Clubs and Fitness Friday! We will finish our sit-up tests and any other tests that students may have missed. Registration forms are available in the gym for any student born between 1995 and 2000 for the Annual Hershey's Track and Field Event sponsored by Frackville Recreation Board and held at the H.S. stadium on May 17th. We will continue to "play ball" in P.E. class, working on various physical skills as well as life-skills, too. We will begin our discussion of "The Principal's Muscles" while adding some "fun" to learning our major muscle groups. I'll look for everyone's participation in our Walking Clubs and Fitness Friday! We will continue/complete our sit-up testing and any re-tests, if needed. It's time to "play ball" in gym class! All "Good Sports" who do their best are always a "big hit" in P.E. class! At our practice stations,we will be working with some fun equipment, which will emphasize many physical skills, such as throwing,catching,tracking, golf putting and locomotor skills. Please wear your sneakers so are always ready for all the action in gym class. Third through sixth grade students: stay tuned for more floor hockey fun! Our youngest students will continue a great cooperative game! All students are learning to be part of a team and "working together", which provides a good foundation in the game of life! Let's all hop to it and put some spring into our step while we work-out together! In our P.E. Class our youngest students will be "leaping" into action in a great cooperative activity and the "bunny hop", too; while our 3rd-6th grade students will be "sticking around" for some floor hockey fun! We will begin "sit-ups", our next physical fitness test, which will determine our abdominal strength and endurance. Practice some sit-ups at home on a safe, comfortable surface so you are ready for your test. First through 6th grade students are timed for a minute and Kindergarten for half a minute. Modifications to this test will be made, as needed. Wear your sneakers and get ready for "Kid's Choice" Activities in gym class this week! It's "Reel Jig" time in gym class this week and we'll be having some fitness fun with some Irish Folk Dancing and theme-related tag games and activities. All fitness testing for the 3rd marking period will be completed. We're always working on many physical skills,as well as practicing positive interactions, learning about real-life skills(responsibility, leadership, cooperation, Good Sportsmanship,etc...)and having great fun while setting healthy goals. We will continue our testing for leg strength(1-6). Our Super Good Sports always win when they do their best and go for good goals. We'll be working on some ball handling challenges and a variety of skills practice. It's all about teamwork in P.E. class! Our K-2 students will enjoy a game of Bowling Basketball and our 3rd-6th grade students will play regular basketball.(Referees and all). If time allows, we'll practice some dancing with 5th and 6th grade for their dance on Friday! Join our exercise team and participate with me in Walking Clubs and Fitness Friday and keep going for those healthy goals! See you in gym class!

We will finish up our testing for upper body strength(K-6) and we will begin our test for leg strength in the form of isometrics(1-6). We're "bonkers" for a challenge in gym class and we'll be adding up half-court basket shooting scores for some friendly competition while supporting teamwork skills with this half-court fun challenge! Our younger students will reinforce and practice previously taught locomotor skills in a fun activity as well as participating in a character-building game! Hey Good Sports: Let's go for healthy goals - join in with me for Walking Clubs and Fitness Friday. Later this week our "10 point" winners will be announced and will receive their treats.
